The London-based smartphone maker Nothing has kicked off the testing of a new edition of its recently launched Nothing Phone 2a in India. Nothing on X shared a teaser of the upcoming smartphone that has been made with inputs from the community users. Nothing CEO Carl Pei stated that the company received around 400 entries for the design of the smartphone and some were even close to what the company had been developing for the past 6 months.
This comes as a phone with the codename ‘PacManPro’ and model number A142P surfaced earlier this month, hinting at a potential ‘Pro’ or ‘Plus’ variant of the Phone (2a).
Pei tweeted, “We received over 400 entries in the first design stage for the Community Edition! It’s inspiring to see such creativity in our community. Plus, some entries are actually close to the upcoming variant colours we’ve been working on for over 6 months. But as a sign of recognition, whoever’s entry is closest will receive one, along with a shoutout from us!”
It added, “Using green-tinted phosphorescent material finishes, elements of the back of the phone emit a soft glow in the dark. This feature is purely analogue, requiring no power source, and can last for hours before gradually fading until it recharges by daylight. It is widely used in the watch industry. Like the fireflies, the glowing feature can also be functional, for example locating your phone in the dark or indicating your presence.”
