Steps to Easily Re-Verify Your Jio Number

Reliance Jio may ask users to re-verify their number using a government-issued identity proof. It is not a routine checkup of numbers, so most users will never see it. But those using a number not registered with their Aadhaar will likely receive text messages and calls from Jio to re-verify their number.

Re-verification is mandatory under the government guidelines should a telecom company suspect misuse of a number. Without re-verification in a stipulated time, services on your number will likely be stopped. If you have received an alert for re-verification of your Jio number, here are the steps you must follow:

Jio number re-verification

— You will find a link in the text message urging you to re-verify your number. Click the link to download the MyJio app on your phone. If you have the MyJio app already installed on your phone, you can skip the step.

— Logging in to the app using your Jio number will give you access to all the services, alongside the re-verification process.

— Tap the card on the top that says “Re-verification pending! Please re-verify connection to avoid suspension of service.”

— Now tap the “Re-verify now” button on the bottom of the card to start the process.

— On the next screen, Jio will explain why re-verification is needed for your number and how you can do it.

— First, you must validate your Aadhaar or upload any other government-issued identity proof. If you choose the first option, Jio will show you the last four digits of your Aadhaar card and a button to generate a one-time password (OTP) for authentication. You will receive the OTP on the same mobile number registered with your Aadhaar. Enter the OTP to continue with the process. Alternatively, if you do not have access to your Aadhaar number, you can upload clear photographs of your voter ID or passport for re-verification.

— In the next step, the MyJio app will need you to click your photograph from the in-built camera. You must ensure your photo is clear and matches that on the Aadhaar ID. According to MyJio’s guidelines, you cannot use a photograph for re-verification.

— Now, hit the Submit button, after which the re-verification process will start. You will receive an SMS stating the same, along with a ticket ID.

Jio will take around 7-8 hours to re-verify your number using your ID, given the information provided by you is correct.
