The Google I/O 2024 event is scheduled for May 14 where we can expect the Pixel 8a to break covers. However, ahead of its launch, the promotional video showcasing the phone’s design and AI features has surfaced online. Let’s take a look at the details.

Google Pixel 8a promotional video

The promotional video of the Pixel 8a, shared by OnLeaks and MySmartPrice, reveals several aspects of the phone. It showcases the phone’s rounded design and also reveals the AI features.

The Google Pixel 8a will borrow several AI features from its elder siblings Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. The device is confirmed to come with Best Take, Circle to Search, and AI Audio Magic Eraser tools. For the unversed, Best Take selects the best shot from a couple of pictures using AI. The Circle to Search feature allows you to draw or circle anything on the screen to do a quick Google lens search. The Audio Magic Eraser tool automatically cuts out the background noise from the footage.

The promo also revealed three of its possible colour variants – Blue, Black, and Beige(unofficial names). We expect to also see other AI features like Live Translate.

Other than this, the Pixel 8a’s key specs were leaked earlier. The smartphone is expected to feature a 6.1-inch OLED display with an FHD or better resolution. The punch-hole panel may have a 120Hz refresh rate support.

As for cameras, it may feature a Google Tensor G3 chipset. The octa-core chipset also powers the existing Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. It is expected to come in two configurations – 8GB RAM/128GB storage and 8GB RAM/256GB storage.

The device may pack a 4,500mAh battery, a slightly larger capacity than the Pixel 7a. The battery is slated to have 27W fast charging support, an upgrade from the 18W fast charging tech. Lastly, the smartphone will most likely boot on Android 14 OS out of the box.

As per a recent report, the Pixel 8a may get 7 years of software update support, the same as the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.
